The Coastal Cropped Top Crochet Pattern

Ready to add a stylish, breezy bohemian piece to your summer lineup? Meet The Coastal Cropped Top, a free crochet pattern that’s as fun to make as it is to wear! This top is the epitome of effortless summer chic, combining the classic comfort of cotton yarn with the easy, pretty texture of the granny stitch.

Why You’ll Love This Top

The Coastal Cropped Top is designed with warm weather in mind. Here’s what makes it your next must make project:

  • Cool and Breathable: I recommend a cotton yarn for this pattern. Cotton is light, soft, and naturally breathable making it perfect for those hot, sunny days.
  • The Popular Granny Stitch: Crocheted entirely using the granny stitch (or granny cluster), this top works up quickly and provides a pretty open texture. If you’re new to crochet, the simplicity of this stitch makes it an awesome beginner project!
  • Adjustable Fit is Key: The top closes in the front with buttons allowing you to customize the width. It also features shoulder straps that tie, meaning you can easily adjust the length for maximum comfort and support.
  • Make it Your Own: The pattern is written for a cropped length, which is super trendy and looks great with high waisted jeans. However, if you prefer more coverage feel free to continue crocheting more rows to make it a full length top!

So if you love that coastal bohemian vibe below is the full free pattern for The Coastal Cropped Top!

Materials:

– Medium weight cotton yarn. I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton yarn in Ecru & I love how it turned out.

– Size G (4 mm) crochet hook.

– 5 buttons.

Gauge:

16 sc = 4 inches

Sizes:

XXS (32″ W)

XS (34″ W)

S (36″ W)

M (38″W)

L (40″ W)

XL (41½”W)

XXL (43½” W)

1X (45½” W)

NOTES:

1: There is no increasing or decreasing in the pattern. The width will be the same from the top all the way to the bottom. When choosing a size go by your regular chest size. If you would like a larger or smaller chest width not shown above just increase or decrease the beginning chain in multiples of 8. Each multiple of 8 equals a little less than 2 inches. For example if you want a 30” chest width your beginning chain will be 126.

2: The length is 9 inches for all sizes but it can be made longer.

3: At the end you will be making 4 shoulder straps and attaching them to the top. I designed it this way so the straps would be adjustable. Feel free to make them any other way you choose.

4: The pattern is written in standard American terms.
