Free Crochet Scallop Beach Skirt Pattern

This was the very first crochet skirt pattern I ever wrote many years ago, and to this day, it remains one of my absolute favorites! I am so thrilled to share this free crochet beach skirt pattern with you all.

With its effortless boho coastal vibe, this skirt is the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe. Whether you are headed to the beach or out for dinner, it’s a stunning piece that transitions seamlessly from day to night.

Pattern Notes & Design Details

  • Skill Level: Advanced Beginner & up. While the stitches are simple, the skirt is worked in the round from the top down, finishing with a beautiful openwork scallop hem.
  • Full Coverage Design: The main body of the skirt is worked entirely in single crochet stitches. I designed it this way intentionally so it provides full coverage—no see-through gaps here!
  • Adjusting the Length: The yardage listed below is for the standard length given in the pattern. You can easily adjust the length to your personal preference by adding or subtracting rows in the main single crochet body section.

Sizing & Fit Tips

This pattern is written for 7 different sizes, but it is incredibly easy to customize to your exact body measurements:

  • Choose by Hip Measurement: When choosing a size, I highly recommend picking the size that closest matches your hip width.
  • The Drawstring Advantage: Don’t worry if the waist area feels a little roomy; the adjustable drawstring waist will cinch it perfectly to your shape. You want to ensure the opening is wide enough to easily slide over your hips!
  • Custom Stitch Multiple: If you need a size smaller or larger than what is listed, simply alter your beginning chain. This pattern uses a stitch multiple of 8. Just increase or decrease your starting chain by 8 chains to change the width, then follow the pattern as written.
